Antenatal Fitness Classes

Antenatal classes can help you and your partner to prepare for labor, birth and early parenthood. Some classes focus mostly on labor and birth, while others guide you through late pregnancy, and what life with a newborn baby will be like. Here at Swapna Healthcare, we provide free weekly classes for pregnant women regarding the delivery and personal care.

It’s recommended that you go along to antenatal classes and breastfeeding workshops. It may help you have a better birth experience, as well as prepare you for coping in the early weeks after the birth. Classes tend to be small, so you and your partner can take an active part in them.

Why do I need to go to antenatal classes?

Though they aren’t compulsory, antenatal classes can help you and your partner to focus on your pregnancy, and help you to be prepared for labor and birth. If your classes address early parenthood, you’ll also be better prepared for the practicalities, and the highs and lows, of parenthood.

You’ll also meet other parents-to-be during the sessions. Some classes are booked according to your due date, so you’ll meet women or couples whose babies will be born at a similar time.

What topics are covered in antenatal classes?

The content of the classes varies. Some concentrate purely on physical and emotional preparation for labor and birth. Others provide a more rounded course for pregnant women and their birth partners. The Department of Health recommends that antenatal courses cover the following topics:

  • 1) Your developing baby

  • 3) Giving birth and meeting your baby
  • 4) Caring for your baby
  • 5) Your health and wellbeing
  • 6) Helpful groups, organizations, and people who can offer help, if you need it Some classes offer a more in-depth exploration of topics, such as:
